The start of some fun

Good morning,

So, life isn't always easy when you have a hobby like retro gaming. Sometimes you get great deals, sometimes you feel like an extra in an episode of Oz. I picked up a NES used for $5.00 with a horrible flashing gray screen back in June 2011. Hitting up my local Meijer Grocery store, I picked up some safety pins (I had to buy 25 in various sizes), tooth brush, rubbing alcohol, metal cleaner, and a dust cloth. This gave me all the material I needed to fix this baby. I opened the unit up and went to work cleaning all the contacts on the motherboard, cleaning the 72 pin connector with a toothbrush and alcohol. Now came the hard part, which was attempting to bend out all the pins. Apparently in the late 70s, no condo builders in Michigan thought overhead lighting was important, so I only have light from the dozen or so lamps in my 980 sq foot condo. I had to actually sit on the bathroom sink for the best link to carefully pull out all the pins, so that the connector would get that "jaws of death" feeling again for all my games. Two hours later and twenty or so weird looks from my girlfriend, I turn the NES on and BOOM it works. I recall playing my NES as a kid, but I don't recall being very good. My greatest memory was improperly removing Zelda from the NES with my father's save game on it, he wasn't too happy. I think Karma came back and hit me 20 years later, when I accidently hit the reset button as I pulled out my Zelda cart, effectively deleting my dungeon #5 save I spent all night getting.

So, the idea is to give a little history of what got me back into the scene of NES games, and see if anyone would actually read this. Additionally, I work a second job at the Depot, so I'm currently bored out of my mind. I'll post more soon.
